Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl

This Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl, with no extra sugar of any kind added, is a fresh and healthy breakfast that you can whip up easily under 5 minutes. | wildwildwhisk.comI was planning to post this Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl the day after Easter weekend to start the week off with something fresh and healthy. But life happened and now it’s already midweek. I guess we could call it a midweek healthy pick me up treat. I know I’m also super late to this train of fun and colorful smoothie bowls. But hey, better late than never is always okay in my book.

And then one day, I finally had enough of it, so I just stopped cold turkey. Then recently it hit me, I don’t have to drink it, I can eat it! AND I can skip the greens, and change up the fruits. Sounds like a no brainer, I don’t know why it took me so long to realize this. I also love all the extra toppings you can add to give these smoothie bowls more character.

I guess that’s why the term “nice cream” was coined. You might wonder what the heck happened? Is this a health food blog now? Don’t worry, we’ll be back with all the pies and cupcakes and cookies later this week. 😉 And for the record, I do love fruits and vegetables!

Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • 1 banana – frozen
  • 1 cup chopped strawberry – frozen
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup almond milk
  • Sliced fresh strawberry
  • Sliced banana
  • 1 tablespoon slice almond
Instructions
  1. Put 1 banana, 1 cup strawberry and 1/2 cup of almond milk in the blender and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk if the mixture is too thick and cannot blend.
  2. Pour smoothie into a bowl, garnish with slices of fresh strawberry, banana and slice almond for crunch.
  3. Serve immediately.
Notes
1. I have a Ninja blender with individual cup and I find the big blender doesn’t do a good job with a thick smoothie like this, the smaller cup attachment is better.
2. I sliced and froze the banana and fresh strawberries the night before for this smoothie. You could also use fresh fruits, but I prefer the ice cream like texture with the frozen fruits.
