Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with some festive naturally green desserts. No food coloring is required to make these beautiful and delicious green treats!
St. Patrick’s Day is an easily forgotten holiday since it’s nestled right in between Valentine’s Day and Easter. But if you’re celebrating this year, how about opting for one of all of these naturally green desserts instead of those loaded with food coloring?
#1. Matcha Cupcakes
Matcha green tea powder is the best natural green food color. The pretty color combined with the delicate flavor is just perfect in these Matcha Cupcakes. Finished with a light and fluffy vanilla whipped cream topping, they taste like a Matcha Frappuccino in cupcake form.
#2. Matcha Cookies with White Chocolate Chips
A green twist on my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe. The creaminess of white chocolate chips is a great compliment to the delicate flavor in these Matcha cookies. Put these out on a platter and they’ll be gone in no time!
#3. Green Tea Mochi
Here’s a green twist on these cute little mochi muffins. These chewy little treats are made with coconut milk and sweet rice flour with a touch of delicate Matcha green tea powder. Not only that the green color is completely natural, but they are also gluten-free!
#4. Matcha Donuts with Chocolate Ganache
These baked Matcha Donuts are super easy to make with minimal cleanup, yay for no oil splatter. Dress them up in a quick chocolate ganache like I did here or go for a Matcha icing if you feel like green on green.
#5. Matcha Madeleines
These Matcha Madeleines are buttery and light, crispy and soft, with a subtle yet rich earthy Matcha flavor. They are perfect with a cup of Matcha Latte.
#6. Matcha Shortbread Cookies
I’m a huge fan of everything shortbread so naturally, Matcha Shortbread has to be on the list. You can make them plain, or dress them up with melted chocolate and a light dusting of Matcha powder.
#7. Pistachio Cupcakes with Orange Mascarpone Frosting
These Pistachio Cupcakes are one of my absolute favorite cupcake recipes to create. Pistachio doesn’t give a prominent green color as Matcha does, it’s more subtle but it made up for it with the buttery delicious nutty pistachio flavor.
#8. Pistachio Cookies
There is even more pistachio to love in these Pistachio Cookies, loaded with ground pistachio and homemade pistachio butter. These cookies are flavored with orange zest and cardamom to create an explosion of flavor that will blow your mind!
#9. Pistachio Truffles
These unassuming white chocolate truffles, made with pistachio butter, are the creamiest and most delicious truffles you will ever taste. The surprise green center is certainly St. Patrick’s day worthy!
#10. Pear Tart with Pistachio Frangipane
With a buttery crust and a creamy pistachio frangipane filling, this unique Pear Tart is unlike any other and so delicious I guarantee love at first bite!
Bonus: Pinata Cupcakes
Okay okay, I know I said natural green desserts! But this minty frosting is made with just a touch of green food color and the cupcakes are so much fun I can’t leave them out. I made these Pinata cupcakes for Christmas with Christmas sprinkles. You can switch them out for St. Patrick’s theme sprinkles instead!
If you make any of these green desserts, please let me know! Leave a comment, send me a photo, rate it and don’t forget to tag me @wildwildwhisk on Instagram. I’d love to see what’s cooking up in your kitchen. Cheers!
